Discover Scouting – Where Adventure Builds the Future

When you join Scouting, you become part of something special — a community that encourages you to explore, grow, and challenge yourself. Scouting is all about discovering who you are and what you can do, while making friends and having fun along the way. Our programme gives young people the chance to learn practical skills that last a lifetime. From teamwork and leadership to outdoor survival and creativity — every activity is designed to help you build confidence and independence. You’ll work together, take on new challenges, and find out how strong you really are when you rely on yourself and on others. For parents, Scouting is a safe, supportive environment where children can develop at their own pace. Our trained volunteers guide and inspire each group, making sure every child feels included and valued. We believe that everyone has something unique to offer, and that diversity makes our community stronger. By joining Scouting, you don’t just take part in games or camps — you become part of a movement that prepares you for the future. Whether it’s learning to lead a team, respect nature, or simply lend a helping hand, Scouting gives you the skills and mindset to make a positive difference in the world. Adventure, friendship, and growth — it all starts here. Join us and discover how Scouting can shape your future.

Different Ways to Scout – Something for Everyone in Regio ZON

Within our region, Regio ZON, we have many different types of Scouts — and that’s a great thing! Everyone has their own interests, and Scouting offers a place for all of them. Most of our Scouts (around 80%) are land Scouts. They explore forests, towns, and cities, learning new skills through adventure and play. Nature is their playground, and teamwork is at the heart of everything they do. About 18% of our Scouts are water Scouts. For them, the water is where the adventure begins. Sailing, rowing, and navigating are all part of their outdoor experience — they learn to work together while mastering life on and around the water. We also have a group of air Scouts, who focus on everything that moves in the sky — from planes and drones to hot-air balloons. Their programme combines curiosity, technology, and the excitement of flight. Finally, we are especially proud of our Scouts with disabilities — a smaller group represented by four dedicated Scouting units in our region. Whether the challenges are physical or mental, our goal is to make Scouting accessible to everyone. With the help of specially trained leaders, these Scouts get the chance to experience the same joy, friendship, and growth that Scouting offers to all. At Regio ZON, we believe Scouting should be for everyone. Different paths, same spirit — united by adventure, friendship, and the drive to make a difference.

Volunteering – The Heart of Scouting

Our main focus in Scouting is to help young people grow — but we can’t do this alone. We rely on a strong community of volunteers. In the Netherlands alone, more than 35,000 people dedicate their time, energy, and creativity to make Scouting possible. Our volunteers fill many different roles within Scouting. Most of them prepare and lead exciting programmes during our activity days. But Scouting is more than just what happens in the forest or on the water — behind the scenes we also have board members, trainers, coaches, creative minds, and strategic thinkers who help shape our values and vision for the future. We believe everyone has something valuable to contribute. Whether you can help just once, or for as little as one hour a week, your time makes a real difference. We’ll help you find a role that fits your interests and talents — or one that helps you learn new skills. Because at Scouting, personal growth isn’t just for the youth — it’s for our volunteers too. Volunteering has sometimes been seen as time-consuming, but in Scouting we keep it simple, flexible, and fun. You don’t need to be an expert in finance, planning, or outdoor survival — just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to join in. Interested in becoming part of our community? Let’s have a coffee and talk about how you can get involved. You can call or email us anytime — we’d love to hear from you!
